Bioenergy, Land Use and Agri-Innovation Group
Led by Dr Zoe M Harris
The world around us is changing. In order to limit global temperature increase to 1.5'C, large amounts of Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage (BECCS) are required. The International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) estimate this to be a land area between the size of Argentina and Australia. Land use change on this scale has the potential to have vast negative consequences on Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions, water cycling and biodiversity. Our role is to try and understand the impacts of land use change (LUC) to bioenergy and its impacts on the environment.
